Building a thoughtful digital presence for a communications organisation working at the intersection of impact, strategy, and meaningful change.

Finding the middle ground.
Wordmatter needed a first website that could communicate its experience and credibility without feeling like a typical NGO or a corporate consultancy. The challenge was to find a visual language that felt professional and serious, while still human and approachable.
Exploring the direction
Before arriving at the final visual direction, I explored two distinct territories. Both helped clarify what Wordmatter wanted the brand to feel like, and more importantly, what it didn’t.

Keep the structure simple. Let the personality come through in the details.
The final direction used a clean grid and restrained typography as its foundation. Abstract artwork, illustrations and colour were introduced selectively to bring warmth and personality into the system.

Structured at its core. Human in the details.
A restrained visual system, brought to life through texture, colour and abstract forms.

A lot to say, without making the experience feel heavy.
Wordmatter had substantial content across its services, approach, case studies and methodology. I kept the layouts deliberately straightforward and used hierarchy, whitespace and small interactions to break up the information.

A website that feels like Wordmatter.
Structured enough to communicate credibility.
Warm enough to feel human.
Distinct enough to feel like its own organisation.

We wanted a website that spoke to who we are - credible and grounded. Darshan understood Wordmatter’s personality and positioning remarkably well. He translated even loosely articulated ideas into a strong visual language where the design supports, rather than competes with, the messaging. He is thoughtful, responsive and attentive to detail, and almost everyone who sees the website tells us how good it is.
